Children with conduct disorders have a
wide range of behavioral problems which cause them to be unruly or to disobey
rules. Conduct disorders generally cause problems in social areas and seldom go unnoticed.
Symptoms may include aggression toward
animals and even toward other children. These children also deliberately damage property and lie.
Causes are varied and include abuse, inherited
factors, and trauma among other things.
Treatment is difficult and long-term. It
also is dependent upon whether there is a coexistent ( co-morbid) condition such as oppositional-defiant disorder.
